In the last month the cabinet, the four different boards, and individual members and friends have participated in a variety of conversations with one another to determine key features of FCC. As a member, friend of the church, board, committees, or any other church related group, you are asked to please focus on how one or more of these will be evident in what you do. These can be evident in something as informal as a conversation between two people who are part of the church family or as formal as a decision by the cabinet or any other board. Please reflect on these items, talk with others about them, and let them emerge in who we are as a “body of Christ”.
In service and support to one another and Christ’s message to us it is important to:
1. Engage more and more young people in a church family that is “kid friendly”.
2. Provide the youth of the church with a Sunday school that works well for them.
3. Involve children in the church, services, programs, etc. as much as possible.
4. Establish a stronger and stronger connection to the young people of the church and communicate
with them in a way that they view their connection to the church as important to them.
5. Engage new people and share who we are and what we do to support one another
including members, friends of the church, visitors, and people that know nothing about the
church.
6. Make the building more available to a wider variety of people and groups who are looking for a
place to meet once or who need a facility on a more regular basis.
7. Learn more from one another about our interests and skills such a quilting, gardening,
photography, etc.
8. Continue to focus on our development as a family of members and friends where people know
one another, are supportive of one another and respond accordingly.
9. Share more about all that we are doing and what we are hoping to accomplish in establishing a
church family that is supportive of its members and one another.
10. Be open to new people and welcome them to be part of who we are and what we do as a church
Continue to be open to a variety of beliefs that members and visitors may have and allow for
the fact that each of our journeys of faith may look different.
11. Continue to be open to change in areas such as worship, activities that church may sponsor, etc.
12. Keep challenging our thinking and the beliefs in order to keep a focus on what we learn as part of
our faith journey.
13. Promote a casual and supportive atmosphere in the church.
14. Serve and support our members, the neighborhood, the community and the larger world in
whatever way is possible.
15. Find ways to encourage one another to keep coming forth in service and support to one another.
16. Keep building connections among the people who are involved with the church and to people
who might find this as a church home that would serve and support them well including:
a. knowing our story
b. sharing common interests
c. supporting one another
17. Be more self-sufficient and use as much of our time and as many or our talents as possible to
provide maintenance and repairs to the facility and campus.
18. Frugally use available resources in a way that supports our service and support.
19. Encourage one another including the pastor and staff in all that we do to provide service and
support to one another.
