COMMITTEES
It is stated in the by-laws of our congregation that "the object of this church whall be to bind together followers of Jesus Christ for the purpose of sharing in the worship of God and in making His will dominant in the lives of people, individually and collectively, especially as that will is set forth in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ." It is further set forth that "...each member shall have the undisturbed right to follow the Word of God accordinig to the dictates of his own conscience, under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit."
Within those concepts this local church seeks to be faithful and responsible as it serves Christ's cause using for its institutional expression the following arrangement of boards and committees.
The DIACONATE consists of six men and six women who cooperate with the minister in serving the spiritual needs of the church and community; assist in the preparation and administration of Holy Communion; develop programs for receiving applications for membership changes and surveying membership statuses annually. They provide for supplying the pulpit in the event of a pastoral vacancy until a new minister is called. A full report of their 2009 activities is included here.
